Ten macrobiotic diets devised by George Ohsawa form the basis of a macrobiotic practice. These diets are based on the principles of yin and yang and the Unique Principle (seven laws and twelve theorems of the universe).
Further adjustments to the diets involve balancing the acid (yin) and alkaline (yang) affects of foods.
